Iconic moment in Christmas history.
If only we all could have a Christmas like Kevin here. No pesky relatives...no rules...no fruitcake...no after Christmas hangover at the mall. But if that were true, we'd have to come up with clever ways to fight off 'My Cousin Vinny' and the voice from 'Wonder Years' from breaking into our house (Let's all admit it, the Wet Bandits thing was an awesome idea). I don't know about all of you, but I'm fresh out of Micro Machines and random old school gangster videos to put in place of ANY run-of-the-mill security alarm. Are these Home Alone references doing anything for you?
Who needs ADT when you have a pump action BB gun?
5.) Gorging on food til you pretty much (or literally) explode - From Thanksgiving well into January is a period I like to call "winter weight time".
4.) Running into old friends - Didn't have a shot at that high school crush back then? Here's your redemption. Cause of course you've gotten A LOT more awesome.
3.) Anything in the snow (Other than driving) - Enough said.
2.) That Christmas movie you can quote back and forth - See above. Although I still say Christmas Vacation is HIGHLY underrated. Would you rather see that or a kid in glasses trying to get a firearm for 24 hours straight? I rest my case.
1.) Playing with toys that you wish you had as a kid - "Hold on Tiny Tim. I just want to test out your new Wii game a few more times. You know, just to make sure it's working right. Then it's your turn."
Seriously, where was the Nerf .50 Caliber sniper rifle when I was young!? Geez.
Imagine how many kids I could hit from a tree house with this thing.
Another Christmas has come and gone. I can admit that it's one of my least favorite holidays. But this year was different. Not that I got more or different types of gifts. Not that the food was better or Santa actually ate the cookies I left this time. But for me, I finally felt a huge relief of appreciation and satisfaction with life and, more importantly, the people in it. My family, as crazy and frustrating as they can be sometimes, are the best and most supportive any guy could ask for. When the chips are down, they help pick them up with me. And even though you don't get to pick your family, I finally got the understanding that they're here for a reason. And as for my friends, well...that just goes without saying, I have THE best ones. Some have come and gone, some will be here forever and some I only interact with via Facebook, tweeting or Skype. But they've all played an important role in my life by being their amazing selves. Those two things I know aren't in Santa's bag, but they definitely are the best gifts I have received.
Ok ok...before this post starts giving everyone diabetes, I'll wrap it up. (Another Christmas gift pun...way to go). I hope everyone had a great holiday and that the good spirit continues into 2011. I expect some big things for myself, but that's up to me to make them happen.
Happy Holidays from Hatmaker
